⏰Appointments
We aim to make booking an appointment simple and stress-free. You can choose from telephone consultations, face-to-face appointments, or online messaging with a clinician (where appropriate). To book an appointment you call the main number 01253 204 333 and press option 1. Our Patient Service Advisors will triage your call and offer suitable advice.
Most appointments for doctors and advanced clinical practitioners are booked on the day with morning appointments opening up at 8.00 am and afternoon appointments opening up from 11.30am. If the above is not convenient due to work commitments, please let the Patient Service Advisor know as we do have a limited number of pre-bookable appointments.
Should you be housebound and need a home visit then please contact the practice on the main number. We will then ask a couple of questions to help triage and this will be passed on to the duty doctor to call and assist you. Should you require a home visit then you should call before 11am.
Due to patient confidentiality, we are unable to book appointments at our reception desk.
Let us know if you need additional support when booking, such as translation services or accessibility adjustments.
🌐Working Together as Part of WIN PCN
We are part of the Wyre Integrated Neighbourhood (WIN) Primary Care Network – a collaboration of local GP practices working together to improve access and services for patients in our area. The practices making up the WIN Primary Care Network are Beechwood Surgery, Lockwood GP Surgery, Queensway Medical Centre and The Village Practice.
This means that you may sometimes be offered an appointment with a clinician from one of our partner practices. This could include services such as extended hours appointments, specialist clinics, or urgent care.
Don’t worry – your records are securely shared between the practices within the PCN, so whichever clinician you see will have the information they need to care for you safely and effectively.
Working together in this way helps us offer a broader range of services, shorter waiting times, and more flexible options — all designed to benefit you.
Information the the WIN Primary Care Network is available on there website.
💊 Ordering Prescriptions
If you are on regular medication, the preferred way of ordering prescriptions is online by using the NHS app or Patient Access app. Alternatively you can send us a message using PATCHS. Further information on prescription ordering can be found here.
To ensure safe prescribing we require an up-to-date medication list from your previous GP, once we have a list, we will be able to update your medication onto our system to enable you to order a prescription when needed. Before registering it is important that we make you aware that the doctors do not routinely or regularly prescribe certain types of medication. This list of medication can be found here.
More general information on prescriptions can be found here.
Please allow 2 full working days for processing, and ensure you order in good time so you don’t run out of medication. Prescriptions can be sent electronically to your nominated pharmacy.
🤝 Patient Participation Group (PPG)
A Patient Participation Group wouldn’t exist without the patients and all our patients are invited to join the Patient Participation Group, The Friends of The Village Practice. Further information can be found by clicking here
❤️ Support for Vulnerable Patients
We are committed to making our services accessible and inclusive for older adults and vulnerable patients. If you look after a friend or family member who relies on you due to illness, disability, or age, you may be recognised as a carer. Registering as a carer with us can help you access tailored support, flexible appointment times, and important updates on the person you care for.
We also provide a range of services for patients with disabilities or additional access needs. Our facilities are wheelchair accessible, and we can offer adjustments such as longer appointments, quiet waiting areas, or support for visual and hearing impairments.
If English is not your first language, we can arrange interpreter services, including British Sign Language (BSL), to ensure you feel confident and understood during your appointments—please let us know your needs in advance.
For patients who are housebound or too unwell to visit the practice, home visits may be available. Please contact us to discuss eligibility and how we can best support you or your loved one.
